Anyone who has kids or plans on having kids....

So my brother told my mom today that his friend lost his nephew yesterday. I think that anyone who has kids or is planning on having kids needs to read this and just remember.
The parents put him down for a nap and when he didn't come out of his room after his nap they went in to check on him. He had been playing with the cord to the blinds and got tangled in it and the cord strangled him. This happens more often then we know but it really hits home when it is someone you know. We need to remember that kids will make toys out of pretty much anything. So take the time to look around their room and put those cords up high and do what we can to protect them from such innocent things. And when you go to someone Else's house check out their room before you put your kid in there. My heart just aches for those parents and I hope we can all learn from their tragedy and protect our children as much as we can. Pass the word on to any parents you know and hopefully we can save someones life.

  1. I've heard stories like this and it just breaks your heart.

  2. Hey Brittney, Thank you so much for posting this! My daughter did the same thing a few months ago, but luckily I was in the room with her only a few feet away! It was scary how quickly she had hung herself and was just dangling there! She is my second child and this never happened with my first, so I just didn't think it was a big deal. I am so lucky that I was in the room when it happened! If I had even been in another room it might have been too late. Thank you for further warning people about this hidden danger, before they have to find out the hard way.

  3. You know our family looks at me as uptight about stuff like that, but if you come in our house, you will notice that our blind cords are all cut so when in the down position, the are right to the top. There is no reason for the cords to be long. I can't imagine the pain they must be going through.
