Birth Story-Liam Coulter Taylor

This was by far my hardest pregnancy...I am not sure if it was cause I had two other boys to chase around or if this little man was just a stubborn one...I was sick pretty much the whole 9 months and so TIRED...I swear I wasn't that tired with the other two...
As I got closer to my due date I got my hopes up that I would have him early like the other two...not too early just a week or two...I should have known better since this pregnancy/baby hadn't been like the other two...so I had stuff ready a month and a half before my due date and was just waiting and waiting and waiting some more...
I had several different false labor episodes and kept getting my hopes up that this was it and then the little stinker would change his mind...
I think I was stressed out about this ones arrival more because Chuck works in Salt Lake and I didn't know if he would make it here in time and so I constantly worried if I gave him enough notice would he be here or would I tell him to get on his way and then have the contractions stop...so it was a constant guessing game...
I had a doctors appointment on February 9th, 2011 and I was still progressing so the doctor didn't want to set an induction date...so I left that doctors appointment with the mind set that this baby was never going to come out of me...that same night my sister-Brooke-opened her Mission papers so we were all at her house to hear where she was going...I was really sore that night and kept getting sharp pains but again I didn't think the baby was ever going to come out so I just ignored them...later I found out that both my Mom and Grandma had talked to each other and knew I was getting close and they thought I would have him the next day...
But nope I woke up Thursday and felt pretty good and not so much pain...
But then Friday morning came and there was Pain...the pain woke me up at about 3 am and I knew Chuck was awake and getting ready for work so I sent him a message saying I was having contractions but don't know if they are fake again or the real thing and that I would keep him posted...then I called at 4 am and said they are still coming and they are hurting but I am going to wait until my parents wake up before I have you start on the road...5 am rolls around and I am still hurting and they are about 4 or 5 minutes apart...I knew my dad was awake but I didn't think my mom woke up until about 6 so I waited until 6 am...
6 am I call Chuck and I say the contractions are hurting really really bad and you need to get on the road...I then call my mom and when she got on the phone she immediately said "is it time?" and I said yes I do believe so...she asked if she could get showered and do her hair and I said yes that I think it will be fine...so I started doing my hair and she started getting ready at her house and Chuck was on the road...the boys woke up at 7 am and I got them dressed and fed and talked to them about me and that I was going to go have the baby...Odin was way excited and Cort didn't really care he just wanted his chocolate milk...
My mom got to my house at about 7:30 with my brother Matt who was going to stay with Odin and Cort...they knocked on the door and I was having a contraction and could not move and so I screamed to the door "just a minute" and after more then a minute my mom pulled her key out and came in the house...at that point it was my second contraction in the last 10 minutes...we grab my bag and say bye to the boys and head to her car...I climb in and start having another contraction and can't move...we then drive up the street (3 blocks) to the hospital and I have another contraction getting out of the car...so that is 4 contractions in a matter of 15-20 minutes...at that point I am getting nervous that I didn't give Chuck enough time to get home...
The nurse checks me and I am already at a 6 almost 7 and with the other two boys I had already got my epidural at this point...
they get me checked in and hooked up and I tell them to hold off on the Pitocin cause I knew that would make things move to fast and Chuck for sure wouldn't make it..
My doctor was at the hospital just before 9 to start another patient and so he came in before he left to go back to his office and broke my water...
Chuck arrived at the hospital about 10:30 ish and there we sat waiting for a little longer...
They started the Pitocin at about 11:00 and I was at about an 8 (I think) and I went to a complete 10 in a matter of 30 minutes and was ready to start pushing...
This was also the longest I have ever had to push with a baby...again nothing like the other two...his head was stuck on the sack but it felt like he was stuck on my pelvic bone and it hurt pretty bad...I had to push (I think) 5 or 6 times and then he finally came out...
They put him on my skin to skin and my heart melted and I remembered this is what it is all about and this is what I have been waiting 9 months to have...
I love the moment I get him in my arms and see him...
It was way different from my other two but SO WORTH EVERYTHING!!!

Below are pictures of randoms at the hospital...My Parents were there along with my Sister Brooke and Brother Matt (who came up just before I started pushing-thanks to my wonderful cousin Rachel for running over to watch Odin and Cort for a minute so he could come up), my Grandparents Pete and Sharlene Memmott, and my Aunt Hope.

My Best Friend Brandy had been watching those baby shows (Bringing Baby Home, A Baby Story, Ect.) late at night when she couldn't sleep so she could feel prepared when she was in the room with me and that same week on Monday she started a new job and of course I went into labor on Friday morning and she had to be at work and with it being a new job she didn't want to ask if she could leave or come in late...so we both cried like little babies when we knew she wouldn't be there to experience this with me...it sucked big time that I didn't get to have her there since we were planning on it the whole time...she did come over to the hospital as soon as
she got off work and of course we cried some more that she missed it...I know she was thinking of me the whole time and I could feel her love so that counts for something...

(check out the head of hair in the bottom picture...the other two boys did not have hardly (if any) hair when they were born...I don't know where he got this much hair from...but again this was all different from the first two.)

Funny story about this picture...my Aunt Hope was pregnant at the same time as me and her due date was about 6 weeks after mine...so when I had little man Liam she had my sister take a picture of her holding him by her belly showing that her belly was probably this size in her...little did she know (or any of us) that she would go into labor early and give birth to a little girl who actually weighed less then little man Liam in this picture...
(her baby-Harper Anne Clyde was born healthy and happy...she is about 2 weeks younger then Liam.)

Aunt Christina came to the hospital from Vegas to meet her newest little nephew...she even changed his very first poopy diaper...what a Great Aunt...

Getting Liam in the car seat to go home...

  2. Congratulations, I was wondering when your little guy showed up. What a crazy story, my third has been completely different from my girls to and I had wondered if it was because it was my third and I had two kids to chase after or if it's because he is a boy. Hopefully he won't be as stubborn and will come out because the last little bit is the worst. Liam is adorable and I'm glad he arrived safely. Congrats!!!
